1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Citizen Stance ("the Platform"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use the Platform. Citizen Stance is operated by Citizen Stance, a non-profit organization registered in Canada.

2. Purpose of the Platform

Citizen Stance exists to promote democracy by giving Canadian citizens a voice to share their experiences with public services and public servants. The Platform is intended for good-faith reviews of public servants and government organizations in their official capacities.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use this Platform. By creating an account, you represent that you are a real person providing genuine feedback based on your actual experiences with public services.

4. Your Reviews

When you submit a review, you agree that:

  • Your review reflects your genuine opinion and experience.
  • You will not submit false, defamatory, or misleading reviews.
  • You will not include personal contact information (phone numbers, home addresses, personal emails) of public servants.
  • You will not post content that is hateful, discriminatory, harassing, or threatening.
  • You will limit reviews to the public servant's conduct in their official role.
  • You grant Citizen Stance a non-exclusive licence to display your review on the Platform.

5. Prohibited Conduct

You must not:

  • Create fake accounts or submit reviews on behalf of others.
  • Attempt to manipulate ratings through coordinated or artificial reviews.
  • Use the Platform to harass, defame, or threaten any individual.
  • Attempt to access or interfere with our systems or data.
  • Use the Platform for any commercial purpose without our written consent.

6. Content Moderation

Citizen Stance reserves the right to remove, edit, or decline to publish any review that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate our policies.

7. Public Servant Information

Information about public servants on this Platform is sourced from publicly available government data under the Open Government Licence – Canada. We focus on individuals in their official public-service roles. We do not publish personal or private information about individuals that is not already public in their official capacity.

8. Disclaimer

Reviews on Citizen Stance represent the opinions of individual citizens and do not constitute the official views of Citizen Stance. We do not verify all facts stated in reviews. The Platform is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Canadian law, Citizen Stance shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Platform or reliance on content published here.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Canada and the province of Ontario. Disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Ontario.
