First: his former company, Global Health Imports, lost at least five lawsuits and was ordered to pay over $7.8 million to suppliers and buyers — and an Edmonton Police investigation was opened into a complaint connected to that company. Second: Boissonnault previously described his great-grandmother as a "full-blooded Cree woman" — something he later admitted was not accurate. His company had also claimed to be Indigenous-owned when bidding on federal contracts, which makes the timing and context of those claims deeply troubling. Canada's Employment Minister is supposed to uphold the rights and integrity of the workforce. A minister who resigned under an active police investigation and misrepresented both his business conduct and his identity failed that standard fundamentally.
