I have been receiving daily unsolicited calls from air duct cleaning services since 2018 — eight years. I am registered on the National Do Not Call List. I have asked callers to remove my number. None of it matters. As Chair and CEO of the CRTC, Ms. Eatrides is ultimately accountable for whether this organization delivers on its core mandate. The DNCL has existed since 2008. The CRTC has issued $17.6 million in penalties. And yet the calls continue — for me and for millions of other Canadians. The Commission is now conducting its first substantive review of the telemarketing framework since 2014 (Consultation 2026-132). That this review took 12 years to happen is itself a failure of leadership. Canadians should not have to wait another decade for a regulator that actually protects them.
