Anna Roberts

Anna Roberts has represented King-Vaughan as a Conservative Member of Parliament, serving a riding in the outer ring of the Greater Toronto Area that is home to many families who moved north and west from the city seeking more space and some measure of affordability — and found that affordability followed them out of town faster than they could plan for. Roberts has been a consistent Conservative voice on cost-of-living issues, housing supply, and the regulatory burden on housing construction. Her riding is the kind of place where the failures of federal housing policy are most visible in daily life: long commutes because people can't afford to live closer to work, young people who grew up in King and Vaughan who cannot afford to stay, and homeowners who bought at peak prices and are now managing debt loads that leave no margin for error. She has used her platform to question government spending decisions and advocate for supply-side housing reforms. As an opposition MP, her leverage is limited to advocacy, scrutiny, and building the record that an alternative government would need to act. The test for Roberts is the same as for any opposition MP: does the criticism translate into concrete policy alternatives, or does it remain at the level of political point-scoring? Affordable housing in the 905 belt requires specific answers on zoning reform, infrastructure financing, and building code modernization — not just general arguments that the other side failed. Roberts has the mandate. The specificity of her proposals will determine whether she earns it.
