LeBlanc has been in Liberal cabinets for so long I've lost count. What does he have to show for it? Housing crisis. Inflation crisis. Cost of living crisis. I understand governing is complicated but when you've been in power that long and things keep getting harder for regular Canadians, that's on you. At some point you stop getting the benefit of the doubt.

Dominic LeBlanc has been a fixture in Liberal cabinets for years and Canadian families are struggling more than ever. Public safety, housing, affordability — all getting worse under the government he's been part of. There's a real disconnect between what federal ministers see in Ottawa and what people see at the checkout. I've lost patience with politicians who've had years to act and keep finding excuses. Canadians deserve better.

Dominic LeBlanc is, by most accounts, the most powerful minister in the Carney government — and arguably was one of the most powerful in the Trudeau government before it. He holds portfolios that define Canada's immediate future: Minister responsible for Canada-US Trade, Intergovernmental Affairs, and the One Canadian Economy agenda. After Chrystia Freeland's departure in late 2025, he added the Internal Trade file. LeBlanc's role in the US tariff crisis that dominated 2025 was central. He served as one of Canada's key interlocutors with US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick, accompanied Prime Minister Carney to Washington, and has been the face of Canada's effort to stabilize a trade relationship that generates more than $1 trillion in annual two-way commerce. The job has no template — Canada has not navigated a hostile US trade posture at this scale in the modern era. His interprovincial trade mandate is equally consequential: reducing internal trade barriers among Canadian provinces has long been identified as a low-cost way to boost GDP, and the crisis context created political will that had previously been absent. Progress has been made, though the complexity of aligning 13 jurisdictions means it remains incomplete. LeBlanc is a veteran politician — first elected in 2000 — who combines institutional knowledge with personal relationships in both Ottawa and Washington. He is also one of Mark Carney's most trusted allies. That proximity to the centre of power is both his greatest asset and the lens through which his decisions will be judged. Reviewed as a citizen who understands that the minister managing our relationship with the United States right now is doing one of the most consequential jobs in the country — and who expects that responsibility to be carried with both skill and transparency.
