Shannon Stubbs represents Lakeland in northeastern Alberta as a Conservative Member of Parliament. Communities built around oil sands extraction need federal investment in diversification, worker retraining, and economic resilience that is separate from the question of how fast the energy transition proceeds. Stubbs has been an effective defender of the status quo and a less effective advocate for her communities' long-term economic diversification. Lakeland's families deserve both — someone who fights for their current jobs and someone who fights for their children's economic future.
