Brampton has for years been chronically underserved relative to its population — a city of nearly 700,000 that lacked a university hospital, had inadequate transit, and was historically overlooked in provincial infrastructure spending. Under Brown, the campaign for a full-service hospital in Brampton gained genuine traction, with significant provincial and federal commitments eventually secured. That is a result that will benefit Brampton residents for generations. On the concern side: Brown's tenure has also been marked by a federal Conservative leadership campaign in 2022 that was disqualified after elections irregularities were found in his campaign's membership sign-up process. He has also faced questions about city hall governance, contracts, and the relationship between political interests and procurement decisions. These questions have not resulted in findings against him but they have not been fully resolved either. Brown is a high-energy, transactional political operator who has delivered infrastructure wins for a city that was being left behind. Whether the methods he uses to achieve those wins meet the standards citizens should expect is a fair and ongoing question. Brampton needed someone who would fight for it. Brown fights. The question is always who else gets hurt in the process.
